BFA THESIS: WISH FULLFILLMENT BOOK COVERS


With my thesis project, I wanted to create a series of illustrations that I can use post-graduation. I love weird, horror-leaning stories, and want to tell my own, so I chose to make book covers based on my own story ideas. I made a long list of prompts, loosely categorized by horror subgenres, and asked people to vote on their favorites. In the end, I got 1,200 responses, which I used to narrow down to six book covers. These are all stories I wish I could pick up and read already--and eventually, I hope to make that a reality for all of them.

 

A girl starts to worship frequencies and electricity after becoming convinced that the radio tower by her house is God, communicating with her. A forest ranger searches for a missing girl in the Maine wilderness, but as he descends, he questions if there was a missing person in the first place. A close knit New England town gets overwrought with an infestation of contagious mushrooms that uses humans as their host... A local convenience store gets haunted at night, and frequented by monsters. Everyone knows...but some poor soul still has to work the graveyard shift! A lone ranger finds himself wrapped up in a tale of tumbleweeds and teeth as he finds himself grappling with a mysterious vampiric attack. A team is assembled to perform the seemingly impossible task of dissecting a fallen deity to figure out what could have killed It in the first place.
